Rodartewedges

love

The abstract sequin print of these trousers are great!

Dazed Digital: What did you look towards for inspiration this season?
Rodarte: Northern California!

DD: There were lots of pieces that look armour of some sort…
Rodarte: I can promise you, if you’ve ever been to Northern California, you would know what I’m talking about…

DD: How does this compare to last season?
Rodarte: Last season was languid and soft, this one was about nature.

Versus by Christopher Kane Spring Summer 2011

One of the big names at Milan Versus is a brand that doesn't really appeal to me but the show looked amazing!!

New York Fashion week trends..

The S/S 2011 collections shown in New York this past week have had an over whelming theme of simplicity. With the current state of the economy and our environment we as a whole crave back to basics in all areas of our life's. The fantasy surreal theme of last year has drained away leaving clever cut simplicity to take its place. For too long the cat walk has had clothing only suitable to be worn by 6ft tall size 6's but this season we see a change to more wearable clothing.

The biggest trend of the season echo's the current mood. We see a revival of the early nineties Calvin Klein style in the collections, simple loose fit cuts with spaghetti straps and minimal detailing in neutral tones and an overwhelming use of white in a vast majority of collections. Too many to contemplate listing! A few selected designers shown are.. Monique Lhuillier, Preen, Port 1961, Nicole Miller, Matthew Ames, Max Azria

The neutral Tones and whites continue to be used in abstract shapes resembling nature's geometric forms to create skeletal laser cut detailing and 3D embellishment. The combination of layered sheers gives an x-ray feel to the looks.Vera wang, Threeasfour, nanette Lepore, Marchesa, Rag & Bone

The monotone themes has a darker side which continues on from last seasons A/W collections bringing a Dark Avant Garde theme into the summer. An unusual choice for the summer but with the need for quality re wearable clothing black is a staple which can be carried through into winter.Mandy Coon, Ohne Titel, y-3, Staek, RAD

New york fashion week knitwear highlight

Malandrino

I loved the knitwear part of Malandrino collection, delicate laddering and macrame detailing on sandals, worked really well together.

Michael Angel

Another designer that stood out for me at new york fashion week was Michael Angel, I love his use of print, they remind me of outer space images and smudged paint, the silhouettes are really unique with open neck silicon jackets and cute shirt collars. I find it a very original collection.
